Clever Hans - part 9 (Medic and a birthday gift)

 A quick post today to show off four more mini's painted to add to my quota for the year to date.

First off a WW2 German medic sculpted in a Winter theme. A very cool sculpt and was relatively swift to paint up once I figured out who's arm was where and so forth. Completely forgot to add my usual red wash to the exposed flesh areas like the rest of my Winter collection so I may well go back and do that at a later date.

My Freehanded Red Crosses are pretty poor now I'm looking at them. 

If you've got a bandage over your eye, then there needs to be blood seeping through. It is so.

 Next up are a trio of Oathsworn Miniatures Burrows and Badgers figs. I painted them up for my friend Derek as a everso slightly belated birthday gift for his 43rd birthday this last St Patricks Day. We got together a bit ago and played our first game of this ruleset and as I'd hoped (Read: planned) he liked it so much he announced he'd invest in the rulebook and his own team in the nearish future. So these three can be added to his own planned warband or not - his choice. He at least seemed to like them. :)

First off a Bat Assassin. Or "Batssassin" as he's known. Simple paint job on a characterful sculpt as always.

Grass tuft's superglue dried white! >_< Told Derek to add a drop of brown wash over it and that shold take care of it.

Next up is a Mole warrior wearing some other critter's bones. He has a very low-tech look which I like.

Little blue markings to look like simple woad designs or some such. The Toad has similar markings on it's Bone pieces too.

This is a fearsome Toad warrior wearing (I believe) the skull of a Wildcat. I like to think he/she gets power from the dead spirits who formerly called that skull their "head".

Creepy Toad-ish sideways pupils.

Tried to make the cloak look like a Badgers pelt taken from a fallen enemy. Nasty bugger this Toad.

Note the simple blue woad type markings on the bone areas to key in with the Mole.

And that's it for a while. Taking a week off from the paint station so hoping to have more to show off in a fortnight.

03/21/2022, week# 12 - 24/100 mini's done (Still on target).

Scarponi, Keith and Molly (Burrows and Badgers)

 More additions to my Burrows and Badgers collection painted up in te last couple of days, a Cat duelist, Mole Blacksmith and Shrew baker. All minis are produced by the game’s creators Oathsworn Miniatures and are white metal with no or extremely few mild lines. As always, I’m very happy with the quality and design of this lot.  I think all three are from the last Kickstarter I backed.

Photos in this post are a little dark, which is rubbish. I’ll make sure to post up the full team in better lighting once completed.

Along with Kirt and McRadish from my previous post, these characters will comprise a new warband for my Burrows and Badgers setting representing the “Village Militia” for the settlement in question. (I thought that would be a fun concept?)

Up first is Giacomo Scarponi, duelist from a foreign land and former Church agent. Originally tasked by the cardinals to hunt down and assassinate a high profile enemy of the Pope, Scarponi soon realized he was to be the fall-guy in that situation and so disappeared into the setting’s village and fast becoming the local Inn Keeper’s closest friend. 

Tried to give the idea of whiskers on his  muzzle by painting stripes. Am hoping the colours chosen make him look a little seasoned!

Feathers in his hat we’re going to be white, but I felt a more tropical look would fit better to add to his look of veterancy?

Next up is Keith. No one really knows much about Keith other than the fact that he’s a damned fine blacksmith and a mole who doesn’t idly waste words and keeps very much to himself. The fact that he stepped up to join the village militia with large hammer in hand was a surprise to all. 

Really this image of a dark and broody character fits Keith perfectly, so with this mini at least I’m not worried about the lighting in the pic too much! Lol

Gratuitous mole bootie shot. Seems he needs to do more mole-squats to fill out those lime-green mole-trousers

Molly is a fiery shrewess and the village baker. It’s common knowledge that she’s a little on the… shall we say, nutty side?  With a reputation for a personality that exists in extremes, Molly is both the most fearsome friend of any who call her such and an absolute headcase when facing those who don’t match her ideas of “decent folk”.

Molly is a bit shouty. I imagine all Shrews in my setting have aggressive Northern Ireland accents and furry personalities! 

To show better her unpredictable outbursts, I felt tiny pupils in all white eyes was best.

That dress has some sort of floral pattern. So small, really only will offend folks if they look too closely, but on the tabletop it’ll work fine.

Last to add in for this warband is the “Captain”. I’ll hopefully have this mini painted up and posted in the next couple days.

Jacques Le Rouge, Friar Fullmouth & Clarissa Quick - Rogues and Royalists (+ Bonus Statue update)

Seems in my effort to keep this current boost of hobby energy on a high, I've been painting up some more stuff, flitting between projects in an effort to keep me enthused. Hope this carries on for a goodly while!

With the delivery of the recent and excellent Burrows and Badgers Kickstarter, my collection of Anthropomorphic Critters has grown exponentially. So I decided I needed to get a lick of paint on the ones I'd already owned, based and primed! Here we have three characters for my Rogues and Royalists project, two more members for my Rogues warband, The Red Toothe - Jacques le Rouge and Clarissa Quick, and the first painted member of their Royalist opponents in my setting, Friar Fullmouth.

Jacques le Rouge, a black fox with a funny accent, both aspects rather uncommon to Northymbria. Easily pushed around by Ma' Tuppence, this untrustworthy fox always seems to have double meanings to everything he says.

Whilst searching the internet for interesting pictures of British foxes, I found images of black coloured foxes! Perfect for a swarthy backstabber like Jacques!

Clarissa Quick was an orphaned Dormouse whose family suffered under the cruel reign of the local lord. A suspicious act of arson claimed the lives of Clarissa's parents and siblings as her meagre home was turned to ashy rubble, the land thereafter somehow claimed by the local Lord as his own - a "fine" location for his new prized Stag Beetle farm.

Ma' Tuppence claimed the orphaned dormouse from the gutter and shared dreams of vengeance against the Lord, for which Clarissa was all too swift to hope would come true.

Friar Fullmouth has been sent to help maintain the religious spirits of the Royalist warband. His healing magic also a boon as they seek to hunt down and arrest the Red Toothe.

I need to give the Royalists warband a proper name.... They have a background, but I'll get into that when I begin painting the rest of their members.

 With these three done, I have only one member of the Red Toothe rogues warband left to paint, Hickory the Pug thug. Still working out a suitable colour scheme for him, but he should feature in my next post. Once he's done, I'll get a nice group pic of these nasty baddies for ya.

Also I got the energy to finish off this feller featured in my last post. Even in the grim dark war torn future, birds still manage to crap uncaringly upon statues.

Might add a bit more of a wash to the stone base as looking at this pic, it looks far more blah than I'd realised, but otherwise this is ready for the battlefield.

Must be anti-Imperium birds to crap so on a such hero.

The Court (Where I work) is still keeping us at work during this virus outbreak, so who knows what's going to happen. Fingers crossed that changes though as I deal with the public daily and I'd rather not experience or bring home this nasty virus. Hope you all and your families are safe and sound in these uncertain times.
