For Joshua - Part 2 (Command units and some bonus stuff!)

The second part of my effort for the For Joshua project are these two groups of Command minis. Again, minis are by Pendraken Miniatures in 10mm and have some fun details for being so small.

The first group are some Undead command characters. Jamie's undead units have read and black colourings so I went with the same on any clothing. Kind of gives them a classic British army feel to them I think. Yet to paint up a banner for the bearer, but that'll be in the package prior to posting to the UK.

The fat fellow on the far right is my fav, some sort of Nosferatu-style vampyre. How the club-waver in the middle is riding a scotty dog is no-one's business.

Second lot are a group of Necromancers, two still human, the other two more Liche-like with skeletal faces. The human sacrifice on the stone altar thing is a nice touch too. They'll add some nice magic options I hope to the baddies army.

Pic is a bit crap, could've sworn it looked better on the phone. You get the idea though.

I'll have these in the post this week, so they can get based by Jamie in his own scheme to match what he has already - Kind of looking forward to see all the figs I've painted ready for their game (Once this poxie stupid Corona Virus stupidity is done with) with the rest of the stuff Jamie already has.

These were pretty quick to get done, so I went back to a very neglected project and grabbed the Officer and Adjutant for my WW2 Dieppe Landing Brit Commandos and Canadians Regulars army  for Bolt Action and got them game ready.

The officer on the left is a BlackTreeDesigns British Paratrooper officer. His Adjutant is a Wargames Foundry Commando, great sculpt aside from his eyes - so squinty he looks like he's suffering terribly from allergies.

I felt that in those early days of the commandos that a former para would be a good choice to lead a force, to that end I painted up his denison smock to kind of look like Fieldmarshall Montgomery's in the below picture.

Not sure what'll grab my attention next, though I did slap a the beginnings of colour onto this Warhammer 40'000 statue terrain piece, though not sure when I'll get back to it. 

My first time trying out Games Workshop's Verdigris effect paint. Still lots of work yet to be done.

And that's it for now. With everything being cancelled left right and center of us all, it looks like I'll have lots of extra time on my hands, so expect more posts upcoming!

More bits and pieces

Yes, another post so soon after the last.

Here's my Necromancer mini by Red Box Games  (RBG calls him "The Keeper" though.) all done and dusted. This mini rocks and was loads of fun to paint. Once again, Red Box scores high with wonderful quality and crisp (Hand sculpted) detail. I encourage all of you to try out their minis to see for yourself.

I also (finally) finished painting the Hasslefree Kirsten mini. My wife is from El Salvador and the roads there are rather.... rubbish, to put it lightly. So my ham-fisted effort at home-made tarmac/asphalt isn't all that far from the real thing. I wanted the mini to look like she's happily been popping zombies or whatever out on the road so added the attempted shell casings behind her, though they are too big for the pistol she's holding. I'm leaving them on the base though as the brush bristle I cut them from is the slimmest thing I could find. The blood pool was more of an artistic effort to help the base balance out better. All in all I think she looks good enough and my wife liked her, so that's all that really matters, right? :)

I also got started on another of my rpg figs - an old Citadel Miniatures Barbarian #1 that I've owned since.... 1989? I never painted him. Ever. Which is damned sad, because he's a great sculpt for a rather heroic princely-looking bugger. Whilst these pics are WIP, I did go on last night after my phone battery died to finish and seal him in Testors, so I'll stick up his proper job pics on my next post.

And lastly, I felt the need to do a little work on the 82nd All American's bravest.

A little bit of this, and a little bit of that

My post for this week for the 6-month challenge.

I've been mostly putting stuff together and finishing the organising. Seems the Flames of War stuff needed the most attention, so here's what's left in my collection in a Bits'n'Pieces chart.

Once again, saving as a jpeg fuzzed up the letters, but it's clear enough to see what's on the list.

I started off by building the 3 Sherman tanks and priming them. Then I thought, hell why not prime those Cromwells too. Then I sprayed the Stuart V's (Forgot to take a pic of the Stuarts though.). I guess I was high on paint fumes as I went on to prime all but 20 or so of my random rpg minis.

All the outstanding pieces for my Flames of War germans arrived too so I've been getting those ready for priming too.

Prior to primer. These are the plastic models from the Open Fire boxed set. They were a pain in the arse to put together.

Shermans in top left primed. Primered. Whatever. German platoons in the forground - SS-Pak40 platoon, 1iC et al, SS-HMG platoon. Behind them are my 3rd Panzer ivH and a wee Marder iiiM self propelled anti-tank gun.

8 Cromwells and 2 Challengers all primed and ready for paint!

I've also got cracking on the Necromancer I'd showcased previously. He's a flippin brilliant sculpt, weasily and creepy as heck. Love it.

WIP - still need to lighten the skirt some, though not much as I want this model dark and dreary with grey-black skin and ebony eyes.

Lastly I was lucky enough to have a pal at Gen Con who purchased me some Noh Empire minis for Relic Knights. So now I have two factions to play. These are put together and just need some more love on their bases. But at least I can play them as they are (Hopefully tonight!). These Oni sculpts are pretty sweet!

White Speaker (Part 2 - Done!)

This girl is done.

Not to many changes from the last update - sorted some shading, painted and glued on the cloak and a few other highlights here and there. I'm pretty happy with the result.

Tried shooting her with a black background for a change. I like it better than the white, only thing is that it feels like her lighter colours are drawing in all the light and so lots brighter than they actually are. I think a grey background would work better for next time. I need to see if I can't find an old grey t-shirt to cut up for the job.

And here's some pictures of the Grave Wardens again, this time taken in better lighting and so forth as promised. As you can see, they have basic tabletop paint jobs, but that'll be fine for roleplay purposes.

Lastly, this chap is going to be the Necromancer-wizard-type who'll be the cause of the Grave Warden's summoning!
