When i said I'd finally get started on my WW2 Winter Germans, I wasn't lying.
This is the force's Lieutenant and his adjutant/Platoon Sergeant pal all ready to lead the way against my array of Soviets. They are both very characterful sculpts with some nice facial expressions. After some patient base coating, both ended up being rather fun to detail. Think I got their kit painted in the correct colours too.

Per usual, these pics are pre-dulcote. |

Thought it'd be nice to show step-by-step pics. Well, kind of. |

Base coat with a wash on his fleece lining. Warmest looking man in the force. |
I also got a start on those Giant Spiders too. Just simple washes.
Good job, nice little Warlord sculpt is that Lieutenant.
ReplyDeleteNot wrong there mate. Cheers.
DeleteMarvellous stuff, Dai. I'm a huge fan of your Winter palette and these guys don't disappoint at all. Love the lieutenant and his pal - great characterful sculpts which your paint-jobs always bring to the fore :-)
ReplyDeleteThankyou Simon. Hope to have more of these fellows up soon.
DeleteLoving the spiders!
ReplyDeleteReally fun sculpts. I thought the purple would be different.
DeleteNow imagining Herr leiutnant shouting orders to spiders.
ReplyDeleteOnly of course, the spiders speak swahili and can't understand him.
Ha! That's a good image. Spiders speaking Swahili - for some reason, that idea makes all sorts of sense to me.
DeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteCheers Rich!
DeleteLooking really great Dai!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal!
DeleteNicely done! Those Germans already look like a promising start.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much. Only another 30-odd to go!
DeleteHoly Cow!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing more of these chaps...
Heh, thanks mate - more definitely incoming.
DeleteThese are looking excellent Dai :-)
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated mate!
DeleteThey make me shiver. Nice cold feeling to these! Glad to see these started! On your way for a complete collection!
ReplyDeleteSlowly, but surely. THEN, I'll be able to rope you into a game. Finally. Cheers Stew.
DeleteThose Germans are great miniatures. Very expressive, especially the way you've painted their faces. Love the spiders too. Sometimes the simplest techniques are the most effective. Well done!
ReplyDeleteVery kind of you to say so Matthew. Thanks loads!
DeleteGreat looking Germans and the spiders look good too!
