But I digress, here's the remaining three Tank Rider infantry for my Bolt Action Soviets. Crap pics as
they were done last thing before bed yesterday and prior to a spray of dulcote,
so please be assured that I will post the whole squad in a group shot in the
next couple days and do a better, proper post for them. After reading the new Bolt
Action 2nd Edition rules, I found that I wanted more Light Machine
Guns (LMG) to support my army as a whole, but also to keep it more thematic
ingame. This meant a quick re-arranging of my planned 1000 point army list and
so now my previously painted Flame-Thrower team has been set aside to bump up
my Tank Rider squad to 10-men and include the squad’s LMG and loader.
Once again, these are Warlord Games’ plastic Winter Soviet
infantry – a very well designed kit that paints up pretty easily. [I also
completed a spotter fig for my mortar team, but he’ll get previewed next post
as his snow effects weren’t yet dry when I was taking pics last night]
Added lots of bits to these guys. MP40 bloke got a mag-pouch for his new favourite toy, LMG trooper in the middle a backup pistol firearm and the LMG loader on the right an ammo pouch for the LMG. |
The 6MMRPC challenge that I'd joined to help lessen my mountain of unpainted stuff and pledge to not buy new models has started again for it's 3rd iteration (I think?), though this time only for 3 months so the challenge won't interfere with the end of year Xmas celebrations, etc. Perhaps that will get me painting again? Roll on the 3MMRPC!
Just fantastic work, like always!
ReplyDeleteI love the snow bases also.
Thanks again Michal!
DeleteOuch - sad news on all fronts there, I didn't realise. Not much one can say to help with any of those things, from the perspective of a friend on the other side of the world - except I hope things start to pick up soon and next year is more positive.
ReplyDeleteThat said, those models do look fantastic and we need a unit photo soon, to see the whole lot. Also glad to hear it's not just me who discovers unpainted straps, visible undercoating, missing base flock etc when photographing models.
They will eventually. Just a storm to weather. Thankyou Ed.
DeleteEverything else might be going south, but these look amazing. Hoping 2016 gives you a break soon.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated Michael. I hope so too.
DeleteSome stellar painting there Dai, despite the woes of life. You really do make these plastic Soviets looks extremely tempting, and I'm really looking forward to the group shot :-)
ReplyDeleteYou should really pick the set up and start a Winter WW2 project too. :)
DeleteDai:
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that life is crapping on you. Been there, done that, would buy you a pint if you were closer.
At least your painting talents have held strong, these Russians continue to amaze. I like the tank riders in the previous post as well.
Keep marching forward.
Cheers,
Mike
Many thanks Padre - that'd be a pint happily shared.
DeleteCondolences on the bad news. Some years just suck, I try to write them off. The Sovs look great though. I know I'll be in town for Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays. Thanksgiving probably too short, but I'll try to give you a shout in December. If nothing else lets have a pint.
ReplyDeleteYes, this year will be written off for certain! :)
DeleteA Xmas pint or even a game would be cool Sean - we should set that up for sure!
Goodness, mate - I'm rooting for you.
ReplyDeleteExcept with your painting. You quite evidently need no help with your painting.
Sweet minis!
Thanks Mate on all accounts. :)
DeleteShit year, great figures,
ReplyDeleteAll the best Iain
Best short comment to date. Cheers Iain.
