A very short post today with no hobby or games to share, but more of a personal celebration on three accounts.
1. On the 1st of October, this humble blog turned 15! Crazy to think I've stuck with it so long. Many, many thanks to all who visit and who might have time to leave a comment on my poorly written posts. It's been said across many, if not most of the blogs I follow, that the connections made since I started writing here and sharing my hobby are the one thing that really do keep me coming back.
2. As briefly mentioned in my last post, this coming Tuesday 20th of October will be my 50th birthday. As a younger man living (shall we say) a truly reckless and irresponsible lifestyle, I honestly could never in my then bullish mind image I'd live beyond aged 25, much less make it to become middle-aged. Yet here I am and somehow only a tad reckless and even less irresponsible in lifestyle than most of my similarly aged friends and colleagues. I'm constantly surprised that I'm not in some gutter or prison and instead a father, a husband and a long-time employee of 20 years here at my workplace. Funny how life works out.
3. Lastly, the 11th of October was the 25th anniversary of my emigrating to the United States from the UK, a decision I've never once regretted.
Current real-life situations restrict my ability to work on my hobby much these days, but I'm good with that and feel I still have a decent enough output from the hobby station and also amount of games played during the year considering that. Regardless, this humble blog isn't going anywhere anytime soon and I plan to update it as time allows until Blogger decides this format for recording our thoughts and hobby is no longer viable in their minds.
Thanks once again to all of you, especially those who read this post at all and even made it to this point! :)

Happy Blogoversary Dai, long may it continue, Have a great day on your Birthday, I like to think a good day is still breathing, not in jail, and not in an asylum is a great day ! LOL Glad to hear you have no regrets from your move, and as long as you are enjoying what you are doing that's the main thing mate.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Dai! You have much to celebrate this week! I always enjoy your posts and happy to see when you pop onto my blog and leave a comment. The connections we make through blogging are important.
ReplyDeleteNice work Dai - I never regret my move to New Zealand either, and that was 38 years ago! Definitely hope you keep on blogging - the more of us that continue to use Blogger, the less likely it is to just disappear one day - hopefully!
ReplyDeleteVery well done indeed, Dai. Some terrific milestones both for your wonderful blog and in your personal life too. Keep up the postings. as I always enjoy seeing what you're up to hobbywise.
ReplyDeleteHello mate: Congratulations on living to 50 and having your life in order and rewarding. I can say as a graybeard of almost 64 that it's worth the journey to getting old. I know from our friendship that you've had some ups and downs but kept stagging on, so good on you for that and for being one of the few of us old grognards who still keep the wargaming blog tradition alive. Grateful for how the hobby has brought us together. Blessings, Michael
ReplyDeleteSo many occasions to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteAll the best! It’s great that you find time for your hobbies—let’s face it, real life doesn’t exactly go easy on us!
Where to start Dai? Many happy returns and indeed congratulations when the big 50 comes round. That is a proper milestone, but like you I remember thinking, wow I made it this far, best make an effort to keep going. Another milestone with the blog, again very many congratulations. I was surprised when I stopped and thought about how long that is to invest in something and I am so pleased that it continues to bring you joy. Here's to more hobby and life in general and from me a big thank you for being such a positive influence around our cozy corner of the blogoshere. Always supportive you should not underestimate just how much that means to those of us that are lucky enough to have you comment on our posts. Take great care.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! So many reasons to celebrate! Congratulations on all the milestones!
ReplyDeleteSo many milestones at once! Congratulations and best wishes Dai.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the comments and connections really do drive a lot of the continued blogging (for me anyway).
Congratulations Dai !
